About
Israel Alejandro Medina is an Austin-based artist from the Rio Grande Valley working in sculpture. Using his Mexican experience as a canvas, Israel creates large, playful work with dirt, metal, found objects, toys, and combines them with sophisticated/primitive materials and processes. Israel has exhibited at Texas State Galleries, Brick Gallery, and Clamplight. He has worked as an Instructional Assistant/Shop Tech for the Sculpture department as well as a Gallery Preparator at Texas State University and has a BFA in Studio Art.
Currently, Israel is using his Mexican culture and experience to investigate the role it plays in jokes, rituals, sports, language, and how that translates into a universal artistic environment.
